“[The] ability and willingness properly to rear children, the gift to love, and eagerness … to express it in soul development, make motherhood the noblest office or calling in the world. She who can paint a masterpiece or write a book that will influence millions deserves the admiration and the plaudits of mankind; but she who rears successfully a family of healthy, beautiful sons and daughters, whose influence will be felt through generations to come, … deserves the highest honor that man can give, and the choicest blessings of God.”
-President David O. McKay
Happy Mother's Day to my wonderful mother, to my amazing mother-in-law, to my grandmother, and to anyone who has ever mothered me.
please note: mary's mother is NOT angry and does NOT smell something unpleasant.
ReplyDeleteOh, Mom. I write a perfectly lovely Mother's Day post and all you can comment on is how you dislike how you look in the picture. What am I going to do with you?
ReplyDeletethrow me to the jellyfish.
ReplyDeleteit WAS a lovely post, and i loved reading it. i love the quote, and i loved looking at the picture. i remembered the hot sun and the little girls squirming all over me, holding dandelions. it was one of my mother's day highlights.
but p.s., you know that when you see a picture and you're in it, you always focus on that first. and p.s. i love you.
